Urge Your Senators to pass the 9/11 health bill, Please Contact Others to do the same
AFTER RECENT VICTORY IN THE HOUSE
9/11 HEALTH BILL HEADS TO THE SENATE FOR NOVEMBER VOTE!
YOUR HELP STILL URGENTLY NEEDED!
SIGN THE PETITION AT
http://www.change.org/911_environmental_action/petitions/view/tell_your_senators_give_sick_911_survivors_responders_the_medical_care_they_need_deserve
TO SEND A MESSAGE TO YOUR U.S. SENATORS URGING THEM TO VOTE YES
THEN REACH OUT TO FRIENDS, FAMILY AND ASSOCIATES IN OTHER STATES NOW
AND ASK THEM TO SIGN THE PETITION
In late September, our struggle for 9/11 health justice took a major step forward when the House of Representatives passed H.R. 847, the 9/11 Health and Compensation Act -- which would protect the health of tens of thousands of people affected by the worst act of terror in our nation's history.
But the fight is not over. Sometime in November, the Senate will take up the bill. Please act now. We have only a few weeks to build momentum and support. Urge both of your Senators to vote YES on this important legislation, as passed by the House of Representatives and referred to the Senate.
PLEASE TAKE 3 STEPS:
STEP 1: SIGN THE NEW PETITION YOURSELF TO SEND A MESSAGE TO YOUR SENATORS. GO TO THIS LINK:
(Even if you signed the previous petition to House members, sign this one to your Senators.)
STEP 2: REACH OUT TO FAMILY, FRIENDS AND ASSOCIATES IN OTHER STATES. ASK THEM TO SIGN THE PETITION
Because it is essential to build support in all 50 states, please contact your friends, family, and associates who live outside of NY. Tell them about the bill and ask them to sign the petition. We provide a "Dear Friends" letter below that you can paste into an email, along with the link to the petition.
STEP 3: PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD ON SOCIAL NETWORKING MEDIA.
For instance, if you are on Facebook, please post the link to the petition in your status, and ask others to sign the petition and post the link in their status as well.
Thank you!
=========================================================================
Here is the "Dear Friends" letter:
Dear (name of your friend, relative or associate in states other than New York):
I am writing to ask for your help to gain passage of an important bill in Congress that will protect the health of tens of thousands of people affected by the worst act of terror in our nation's history. The 9/11 Health and Compensation Act (HR 847) passed the House on September 29th and will head to the Senate for a vote sometime in November.
Please urge your Senators to vote for this critically necessary bill, by signing the petition at this link:
And please pass it on! It is vitally important for Senators to understand that folks all over the country want to see this legislation passed.
After you have signed, please forward the link to friends, family members and contacts, especially those outside of New York State. Please ask them to sign the petition too -- and ask them to pass it on to their friends, family members and contacts. Then, if you are on social networking media, please direct people's attention to the petition. For example, please post the link to your Facebook status.
You can read more about the bill at the petition link, but here is some background:
9/11 was an attack on our nation that killed nearly 3000. What you may not know is that tens of thousands of people are now sick as a result of the World Trade Center attacks from breathing in the toxic fumes and dust that resulted from the collapse and burning of the Twin Towers. Among the sick are heroic responders who toiled at Ground Zero in the rescue and recovery operation and who came from every state in the country and risked their lives to help others…and also, the people of Lower Manhattan and visitors to the area, the civilians targeted by terrorists on that horrific day.
Many responders and survivors are sick because they believed the federal government's false assurances that the air was safe, and some of them have died and more are dying.
The help provided under the 9/11 Health and Compensation Act, includes funding treatment and monitoring for the diseases arising from exposure to the toxic smoke and dust released in the 9/11 attack. Help is desperately needed and long overdue. Again, please urge both of your Senators to vote to pass this critical bill.
If you have any questions feel free to contact me at the displayed "TO" email address, loripandolfo@...
Thank you for your much-needed help.

Rabbit Hole Ensemble Presents
"THE TRAGIC STORY OF DOCTOR FRANKENSTEIN"
October 28th-November 13th; Thurs-Sat at 8pm
At Brooklyn Arts Exchange
RABBIT HOLE ENSEMBLE, lauded as "riveting" by The Village Voice, is pleased to announce the world premiere of THE TRAGIC STORY OF DOCTOR FRANKENSTEIN written by Resident Playwright/NYITA* nominee Stanton Wood, and directed by Rabbit Hole Ensemble Artistic Director/NYITA winner Edward Elefterion. The production plays October 28th to November 13th, Thursday-Saturday at 8pm, at Brooklyn Arts Exchange, 421 5th Avenue, Park Slope. Tickets are $18 ($15 students/seniors) and available with more information at www.rabbitholeensemble.com. A Benefit Performance and Reception will be held opening night, Oct. 28th; tickets: $50.
Rabbit Hole Ensemble (RHE) celebrates its Fifth Anniversary by returning to one of literature's most influential and terrifying stories. Using physical theatre techniques, Kabuki, puppets, and the narrative foundation of story-theatre, this expressionistic gender-bending minimalist adaptation of Mary Shelley's novel, FRANKENSTEIN focuses exclusively on the doctor's side of the story. Much like RHE's award-winning adaptation of Dracula (THE NIGHT OF NOSFERATU), the company is working with resident playwright Stanton Wood in a year-long exploration of FRANKENSTEIN and its themes; Part 2 will tell the same story, focusing on the monster's side of the story (to be presented in 2011).
Stanton Wood is the Resident Playwright at Rabbit Hole Ensemble. His play, BIG THICK ROD (RHE/FringeNYC 2008), was recently published by Original Works. His productions with RHE include CANDIDE AMERICANA and THE NIGHT OF NOSFERATU (2008 NYITA nomination for Outstanding Full-Length Script). Director Edward Elefterion is the Artistic Director of Rabbit Hole Ensemble, recipient of the 2008 NYIT Award for Outstanding Director, and nominee for the 2009 NYIT Award for Outstanding Choreography. Among his credits: the award-winning THE NIGHT OF NOSFERATU, BEFORE YOUR VERY EYES ("taut, powerful," Theateronline), SHADOW OF HIMSELF by NEAL BELL (called "captivating" by Showbusiness Weekly), CANDIDE AMERICANA. He has taught acting at Hofstra University for the past nine years, and is a member of the Society for Stage Directors and Choreographers.
Featured in the cast: Arthur Aulisi (named Person of the Year 2008 by nytheatre.com), Emily Hartford (off Broadway's THE CONTRAST at Mirror Repertory Company), Elyse Knight (AWOL at the Public Theatre and A NIGHT AT THE OPERA at EST), and Jocelyn O'Neil (MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING at the Lincoln Center Institute/Aquila Theatre Co.).
RABBIT HOLE ENSEMBLE, founded in 2005, is a Brooklyn-based theatre company that engages the imagination of audiences by using the power of the performer to create atmosphere and story. Performers use their bodies and voices to create characters, environments, and sound design. Their distinctly minimalist aesthetic has been recognized by many publications, among them The New York Times ("[for those] who enjoy something experimentally interesting…an intriguing production," 2009); Time Out ("Four Stars—Critic's Pick," 2008); The Village Voice ("should not be missed," 2009) NYTheatre.com ("Spectacular," 2007); Broadway World ("a grand and spine-tingling production," 2007); and Talkin' Broadway ("a fully conceived and flawlessly executed piece of theatre," 2006) In addition, the company has received two New York Innovative Theatre Awards, and seven nominations, over the past two years.
THE TRAGIC STORY OF DOCTOR FRANKENSTEIN, by Stanton Wood, directed by Edward Elefterion, featuring Arthur Aulisi, Emily Hartford, Elyse Knight, Jocelyn O'Neil. October 28th-November 13th; Thursdays-Saturdays at 8pm at Brooklyn Arts Exchange, 421 Fifth Avenue, Park Slope. Transportation: F,R to 4th Avenue & 9th Street. Writer Seeks Small Studio/Office
I'm a young writer living in a cramped 4-person apartment in the Ditmas Park area. Love the neighborhood, but need some private space to do work. I'm seeking a quiet writing office/studio. Ideally I'd like to pay $175 or less, and would be really interested in a work exchange. I'd do house/yard work, babysit, or cook some tasty meals in exchange for a decent amount of undisturbed room access. I imagine someone has an extra space, and I'd be open to a number of different situations--coach house, spare bedroom, attic, or any space with a bit of light, a door that closes, and quiet. I'm an incredibly respectful, good-natured, and friendly twenty-something woman. I would be interested in using the space evenings after work and on weekends. I would never spend nights and would be writing, so really quiet. If this seems like an interesting arrangement to anyone, I'd love to exchange some emails or get a cup of coffee to discuss. Thanks!

RE: $487 Room in 4 bedroom apt., right next to the park! (Caton Park)
Our roommate is moving out at the end of october, so we have a room opening up in our place in Caton Park/Prospect Park South on November 1st. A few blocks from the Church Avenue Q/B stop, and about two blocks from the park. Also about a 10-minute walk to Cortelyou Road, where there are lots of great new bars, restaurants, and cafes. The room is $487 including all utilities, netflix, and internet. plus a $900 deposit you'll get back when you move out...
3 friendly guys living here, all musicians, so we're looking for someone who doesn't mind people playing during the day (but obviously you don't need to be a musician too)...we'd actually prefer a female (just to keep things balanced), but of course that's open. We're all pretty laid back, we're not obsessive about keeping the place spotless but we definitely need someone who's good about washing dishes and keeping the kitchen generally clean.
Please tell us a little bit about yourself in your reply, thanks!
