JOIN NYC PARKS FOR A DAY OF FITNESS AND FUN AT 5^th ANNUAL BROOKLYN BEACH SPORTS FESTIVAL IN CONEY ISLAND

 

Clinics and free play for a variety of sports will be open to all ages.

 

 

DATE:                        Saturday, August 3, 2019

 

TIME:                         9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

 

LOCATION:               Coney Island Beach

West 10^th Street Boardwalk Entrance
BROOKLYN

 

DETAILS:                  Kick off your sandals and enjoy play time at the beach! NYC Parks is hosting a calisthenics competition featuring athletes from all over the world. The event provides New Yorkers with recreational opportunities for volleyball, crossnet, flag football, ultimate frisbee, and soccer.

 

This event is free and open to individuals of all ages and abilities. Adults must accompany youth ages 17 and under.

 

Calisthenics Competition

10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Check-in: 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.

Registration is required for those participating in competition

 

Volleyball & Crossnet

Clinic: 10:00 a.m. – noon

Play: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

 

Flag Football

Clinic: 9:00 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.

Play: 9:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

 

Ultimate Frisbee

Clinic: 11:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

Play: 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

 

Soccer

Clinic: 1:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.

Play: 1:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

                                               

This event is presented by NYC Parks, Newwave, Calistation and THE RACK.

LOCATION:               100+ community gardens throughout the city.

EVENT:                      Explore more than 100 community gardens throughout the city that will open their gates and host FREE activities and entertainment including arts and music, greening and composting tutorials, gardening workshops, and much more!

 

DETAILS:                   GreenThumb is the largest community gardening program in the country, with more than 550 community gardens across the city, totaling over 100 acres.

 

                                    GreenThumb, established in 1978, provides programming, material support, and technical assistance to community gardens in New York City.

 

                                    GreenThumb's 20,000 community gardeners produce more than 500,000 pounds of food each year.
