PROSPECT PARK TENNIS CENTER ANNOUNCES

OPENING OF INDOOR TENNIS SEASON

Brooklyn, NY – The Prospect Park Tennis Center announces the opening of its indoor tennis season on Monday, October 24. As the weather turns colder and the days grow shorter, there’s no need to hang up your rackets for the winter. The bubble is up so you will be protected from the elements. We also have newly renovated clay courts to protect your precious knees.

Haven’t played in years? Come take lessons from our friendly and welcoming tennis pros!

The Prospect Park Tennis Center is open daily from 7am until 11pm. Call (718) 436-2500 for more information or visit www.prospectpark.org. There are hourly and seasonal rates available. We are also offering a First Weekend Special on October 28th and 29th – Get two hours for the price of one! (Valid from 7pm until 11pm.)

Be part of a tradition of tennis in Prospect Park that stretches all the way back to 1885, when the lawn tennis craze swept the nation. By 1900, the Long Meadow was home to over 300 tennis courts! In 1960, tennis was moved to the historic Parade Ground with the construction of surfaced courts. In 2006 the Prospect Park Alliance opened the Tennis Center at the Parade Ground under the direction of Paul Campbell. The Center offers 11 courts, 9 of which are Har-Tru surface courts and two are Deco-Turf hard courts. The Deco-Turf hard courts are especially suitable for Junior play and USTA League and Tournament training.

The Center is located at the Parade Ground on the corner of Coney Island and Parkside Avenues (Park Circle). Street parking is available on Parkside Avenue.

The Prospect Park Tennis Center at the Parade Ground is a program of the Prospect Park Alliance. All proceeds from the Tennis Center go toward providing a high level of service, programming and ongoing maintenance of the Center.
