Looking for a room to rent
Hello,
I am looking for a room to rent in an apartment/house. I am a 33 yr old female adjunct lecturer as well as writing tutor at a CUNY school. I am also a Brooklyn College Film student. I am producing a few short films this semester so it keeps me busy other than my professional work. I am responsible and laid back. I am clean and also not needy. I like to keep to myself at times to do work so that means I also like quite; however, that does not mean I flip out with noise. I am a reasonable person and can compromise. Also my solitude does not mean I avoid social interaction. I am social and I have a pretty good balance. I am looking for a place that I can call home (feel relaxed) and also live with some people who are pretty cool and easy going and responsible.
If you have a room available and I sound at all compatible, please email back at lizballa@gmail.com

ISO Family for Nanny Share
We have a temporary share coming to an end, and hope to find a family to share our amazing nanny with us. We are on 18th near Cortelyou, and would be happy to host at our apartment (we have a double stroller and a baby bjorn travel crib for naps). We would also be open to having the other family host/ alternating.
We are thankful every day to have Georgette in our daughter Lilo's life and in our life. She is extremely caring, kind and affectionate. She made our move to a new neighborhood so easy by quickly finding out where our daughter could take classes, what parks to go to, making friends and play dates for Lilo. She is French speaking, and Lilo has learned many French words, too. Georgette has also done so much to expand our Lilo's vocabulary and she is talking so much more. We are so confident in how she takes care of Lilo and trust her instincts implicitly. She is a great communicator with us, and a true partner.
She has worked in the past with families with 4 and 3 children, and is very able to handle a share. Her references are extremely impressive and every word was true. Lilo absolutely loves her, and she shows so much love and care for Lilo. She checks every night that her Gigi will be back the next day. They take a class at the Brooklyn Museum, they go to Prospect Park, the Children's museum-- I am always amazed by how active she is.
In the fall, our daughter will be at school 5 mornings a week, until 11:30. Right now she is in school two mornings a week until 12. We will keep Georgette full -time, but would love to find a 3 day share. Any combination of days will work. We would be open to a more full-time share as well. We hope to have the other family use 25-30 hours per week at least.
Each family would pay $10 an hour on the share days. Her hours are 8-6.
Please call me at 917 620 2350 if you would like to discuss.

Roulette Presents: Spectropia w/ Toni Dove, R. Luke Debois, Debbie Harry, Elliott Sharp & The 31 Band May 4 & 5
Contact: Lucy@roulette.org
What: MIXOLOGY: Toni Dove, Spectropia
When: Friday, May 4 & Saturday, May 5, 8pm
Where: Roulette, 509 Atlantic Ave Brooklyn, 2/3/4/5/A/C/G/D/M/N/R/B/Q trains & the LIRR
Cost: $20/15
Info: www.roulette.org / 917.267.0368
Brooklyn, NY: Roulette presents 2 nights of Toni Dove's Spectropia, a sci-fi hybrid live-mix cinema event featuring time travel, telepathy, and elements of film noir in a drama set in England, 2099 and in New York City, 1931, following the Great Crash. Featuring live performances by Toni Dove, R. Luke Debois, Elliott Sharp and The 31 Band with a performance by special guest Debbie Harry singing "This Time That Place".
Over 2 nights, Roulette will present radically different aspects of Spectropia. Friday, May 4, will feature a scratchable movie performed by Toni Dove and project software designer R. Luke DeBois complete with video DJs playing a movie instrument, Saturday, May 5 will feature Elliott Sharp and the '31 Band performing "Spectropia Suite" with vocals by Debbie Harry. The musicians of The '31 Band have extensive experience in many realms of music and have worked with Sharp on many projects, from the various Western traditions of jazz and classical music to the farthest reaches of contemporary music, free jazz, and improvisation. For this performance, the group will feature: Briggan Kraus - alto saxophone; Nate Woolley - trumpet; Art Baron; Curtis Fowlkes & Steve Swell - trombones; Anthony Coleman - piano; David Hofstra - string bass; and Don McKenzie - drums.
Created and performed by Toni Dove and software designer R. Luke Debois, Spectropia presents live performers who orchestrate onscreen characters through a mix of film, performance, and a system of motion sensing that serves as a cinematic instrument, creating a narrative form that is part video game, part feature film, and part VJ mashing. The audience sees through characters eyes, hears their interior thoughts, and virtual characters break the wall speaking live to the audience.
Spectropia features a collection of notable performers across multiple genres. The film's cast features actress Aleksa Palladino (Boardwalk Empire, Sidney Lumet's Before the Devil Knows You're Dead and Find Me Guilty) as Spectropia and Helen Pickett (recently with the Forsythe Ballet of Frankfurt and The Wooster Group) as Sally. Highly-acclaimed multi-instrumentalist Elliott Sharp composed the original score which features pop icon Debbie Harry providing vocals on the song "This Time, That Place." Award winning artist Perry Hoberman contributed to the set design for Spectropia's studio with an interactive installation of used computer equipment. R. Luke DeBois, artist and co-author of the Jitter software suite for real time manipulation of matrix data designed the project's proprietary software.

Sunday, Feb 26 - Brooklyn Symphony Orchestra
on Sunday, February 26th at 3pm at the Church of St. Ann and the Holy
Trinity in Brooklyn Heights. Come and hear musicians from all over
Brooklyn, including Ditmas Park, create a memorable musical experience
and talk with them at the reception that follows.
Music of the early part of the 20th century will be the focus of the
Brooklyn Symphony Orchestra 's upcoming concert to be held on Sunday,
February 26, 3pm, at the Church of St. Ann and the Holy Trinity in
Brooklyn Heights. The program, conducted by Artistic Director Nicholas
Armstrong, will include "Parade" by Erik Satie, "Pacific 123" by
Honegger, Les Biches by Poulenc and Suite from "The
Firebird" (1919) by Stravinsky.
"This very rich musical period will delight our audience," said
Armstrong. "Stravinsky's 1919 suite from his ballet "The Firebird" is
well-known, but the less frequently performed works – Honegger's
exciting symphonic representation of a speeding locomotive, Poulenc's
elegant evocation of the eighteenth century with many nods to Mozart,
Haydn, Beethoven, even Lully, and Erik Satie's Dadaist ballet "Parade"
with its sirens, bottle-o-phone (!) and cracking pistol shots – should
offer our listeners a stunning and highly colorful panorama of the
musical life of Paris in the teens and twenties."
A reception to meet the musicians will follow the concert with free
refreshments.
Admission is suggested donation of $15. Children are free.
