Young Dancer Needs a Home

Hey Ditmas Park-  My Dad works for the Boston Ballet and his closest friends (also dancers) are looking to send their young daughter off to the big city for ballet training.  They need help in finding her a place to stay for the upcoming school year.  I thought there's not a better neighborhood to help her get situated in NYC than Ditmas Park!  She can help with babysitting if need be.  Please read her Dad's post below and let me know if you have any thoughts.

Our daughter, Carolyn, is a scholarship student with American Ballet Theatre's New York summer program, which she has attended for the past three years. She's been asked each year to stay and train in their year-round program, but we did not feel she was ready until now. And of course, this is her dream - to train with the ABT school in New York, and hopefully to have a career with American Ballet Theatre (like her mom!) or another major classical ballet company.

Carolyn is 17, just finishing her junior in high school, very focused and disciplined. We've arranged for he to finish high school online, and now need to find a home for her. We'd like her to spend her first ten months, August - May, with a family (with or without kids) in order to give her some structure and the possibility of guidance during her first full year away. She doesn't have to live in the city. When she spent a week training at the ABT school last fall, she commuted in from Connecticut. A commute of less than an hour would be great.

Carolyn will have 2-3 hours of online study each weekday, and will be dancing from 1:30 to 7:30 in Manhattan. On the weekends, she'll take class and attend Mass. In her free time, she's open to babysitting (she's the second of four children, and loves kids), and otherwise helping out.

If you know anyone who might be interested in renting out a room to a very sweet, hard-working young lady for next school year, please pass this on to them, or let us know and we'll follow up.

Thank you for your help. And please feel free to pass this on to others who may be able to help!  Please send responses to:  jabklyn at verizon dot net
