Soon it will be that time of year... the doldrums of January.  Time to
perk up with 13 hours of Balkan music, dance, snacks, and fun.  As it
was last year, the Golden Festival will be held at historic Grand
Prospect Hall in Park Slope, 263 Prospect Ave, Brooklyn.  More than 60
groups have applied to perform.  This year's schedule is still to be
finalized (keep your eyes on the festival website ), but last year
about 2500 people heard some 71 groups over the two nights.

From the beginning in 1986 the festival has been a benefit for Balkan
charities and educational institutions.  Over the last several years
we have donated around $16,000 to groups such as Mercy Corps, IRC,
Heifer, East European Folklife Center, Voice of Roma, and Search for
Common Ground.
