small room on Westminster for dog lover

We (J and L plus a dog) need a roommate. Read on:

The deal: We both work 9-5. We are looking for someone who doesn't work 9-5 and can give J's dog a midday walk. Perhaps an artist? a grad student? a writer? In exchange, we are offering a discounted rent. We don't know the exact rent yet, but it would be somewhere in the neighborhood of $350-$375, plus your share of utilities (electricity, cooking gas, and internet).

The apartment: We are moving in on December 10, most likely. It's a 3-bedroom on the first floor of a house in Ditmas Park. The owners, who live upstairs, take very good care of it--it's nicely renovated with some details left in place. Living room, dining room, kitchen with dishwasher, front porch, lots of closet space, foyer for coats, shoes, and bikes. Wood floors. Sunlight.

The location: Ditmas Park. It's a neighborhood of big houses and big trees. The house is on Westminster Road near Avenue H. Very close to the Q train and not far from the B. Short walk to the good stuff on Cortelyou. More: ditmasparkblog.com.

The room: It's tiny, something like 7x7. But it has a window, a door, and a closet. It can definitely hold a full-sized bed and possibly even a queen, although not much else. Much could likely be accomplished with a loft bed. Of course, you are free to share the common spaces. There's room for your bike, books, kitchen stuff, etc, and a little furniture (depending).

Us: J works in book publishing. Liberal, novice baker, lover of craft beer, indie music, bad puns and baseball. Doggy parent. L is a graphic designer and illustrator. Vegetarian, lefty politics, maker of bad puns, loves children's books, vintage things, and nerdy board games. We are in our thirties and are not a couple. J's dog is an active 45-pound mix who likes squeaky toys and hugs.

Our household: We're members of the Ditmas Park CSA. We compost (in the neighborhood!) and frequently share meals. Sometimes we have friends over for dinner or board games. Visitors are generally welcome. We have a Netflix subscription but no TV or cable (at the moment--up for discussion). Have considered, but not implemented, a NY Times subscription. Non-smokers. Queer-friendly.

You: Dog lover. Non-9-5er. Able to commit to weekday dog-walking. Someone interested in making and sharing a home, not just occupying a room. Creative energy appreciated! Special note: We are happy with roommates anywhere on the gender spectrum, but J's dog is most at ease around women. Everyone is free to contact us, with that caveat. No additional pets, as that would be madness.
