help John E|MERGE

I'll be at Earthdance's E|MERGE in Plainfield, Mass for 12 days of a ground-breaking, collaborative residency: part think-tank, part lab, part workshop, part performance festival. I like to call it Art Camp: in the depth of winter Earthdance shelters amazing artists from around the world (I get to continue to work with 3 collaborators from SF, the UK and NYC he worked with last year!). So inspiring. SO sustaining

Help Earthance cover the costs of the residency by contributing (by this Saturday night) to the Kickstarter Campaign!

Zen of Clown
Earthdance, Plainfield, Ma
Thurs-Sun, April 5-8

Anchored by Zen Buddhist practice and his work as a hospital Clown, I teach a combination of European, Native American Pochinko, and American circus Clown. Participants will learn to listen and authentically react to the unexpected, inside and out, while playing fiercely in a relaxed, yet gun-to-yer-head environment. Students will be encouraged to develop their point of view and to follow their interest. Expect bonfires, scrumptious meals, heated discussions in the sauna, and your thirst for discovery. Useful for beginners and seasoned performers alike.

“During class, he follows students’ process using empathic understanding while following and responding to the student’s feelings rather than leading them to a place that he thinks they should go. He challenges students to continually go deeper in their self-awareness, to use their emotions intelligently, and to use this power to connect with an audience." Edy Rodewald, PhD
