Guitar Lessons in your home

Hi there,

My name is Ryan, I'm a guitarist/musician living in the neighborhood for about a year now. I have 8 years of experience teaching guitar lessons to mostly kids, sometimes adults.
I have a Master of Music from Manhattan School of Music. As a performing musician, I play mostly jazz, but I enjoy listening to, and teaching all genres of music.

My teaching style is very laid back and relaxed. Most lessons consist of showing students songs they want to learn, while providing basic fundamentals of music.
Through my experience as a teacher I've learned that every student has a unique set of interests, and abilities, and that it's more important to teach the student rather than merely the
subject.

While I realize most students don't have aspirations of becoming professional musicians, I hope that through the lessons the student will be able to take away an appreciation for the joy of making music.

I'm currently a mentor and guitar instructor at Songcathers, a non profit music school in New Rochelle.      http://www.songcatchers.org/about-us.html
And, a guitar, piano, and music theory instructor at Douglaston School of Music and Art.                           http://www.dsmany.org/

Rates are $30-$60.

Clarinet Lessons for Students of All Ages

No matter how young or old you are, my focus is on helping you create a beautiful sound, enhancing your technique, improving your basic musical skills (scales, arpeggios, rhythm, sight reading), introducing you to the clarinet repertoire, and, if needed, helping you prepare for an audition.  Before a first lesson, at no charge, I will check your clarinet to see if it needs any repairs to pads, corks, springs, or keys, and can recommend where to have good repair work done.

I am principal clarinet of the Brooklyn Symphony Orchestra, woodwind coach for the BSO Youth Orchestra, and for the past two years have been Director of the Clarinet Choir for the Make Music New York festival.  I have also performed with Brooklyn Repertory Opera, the 92^nd Street Y Symphonic Workshop Orchestra, the Kingsborough Community College Concert Band, and in chamber music concerts in New York.  If you can get onto Facebook, you can listen to a sample of the clarinet choir here:  http://www.facebook.com/?tid=1487411338392&sk=messages#!/video/video.php?v=93802541908&oid=94406809658
