The Department of Finance wants to make sure you and your members are aware of our "Forgiving Fines: The New York City Amnesty Program," which runs from September 12, 2016 -December 12, 2016.  

 

"Forgiving Fines: New York City Amnesty Program," is a DOF program that forgives penalties and interest on violations received by individuals and business owners from the Department of Sanitation, Department of Buildings and other City agencies. The program covers violations left unpaid that are now in judgment. To have a violation in judgment means the City of New York has files a public record of liability due on a violation for the entire amount.  To find out more information, and the most frequently asked questions on "Forgiving Fines: The NYC Amnesty Program," visit www.nyc.gov/forgivigfines.

DETAILS:                   In the shadow of the world famous Cloisters, The Medieval Festival transforms Fort Tryon Park into an era-themed market town decorated with bright banners and processional flags. Delighting all that come to this event, festival-goers enjoy authentic period music, dance, magic, and minstrels, as well as jousters, jugglers and jesters.

 

In its 32^nd year, the annual Medieval Festival at Fort Tryon Park draws nearly 75,000 people for activities including storytelling, puppet theater, falconry demonstrations, a living chess game, music, and food of the era. The afternoon is concluded with a thrilling joust between four knights on horseback. Costumed vendors will be on hand to demonstrate and sell a wide variety of medieval crafts, as well as food and drink. Experience the culture of a bygone era against the backdrop of the Cloisters museum and the Hudson River..

 

This free, unique experience is for all ages. Attending dressed in festive medieval costume is encouraged.

The Conference House, a grand stone manor house built in 1680, is named for the unsuccessful Revolutionary War peace conference that was held here on September 11, 1776 between the Americans and the English. Despite their negotiations to end the fighting, no agreement was reached and the Revolutionary War continued for another seven years.

Tomorrow is the last day for our petition to request that the DOE make the new school at 510 Coney Island Avenue exclusively a middle school. If you would like to see more middle school choices for kids in our neighborhood, please add your name.
