Fwd: CERT: Fwd: Potential for Heavy Rain Monday Night and Tuesday

Forwarded from NYC OEM

Storm coming - see below. Monday afternoon, before the storm hits, would be a good time for all residents to rake out and bag the debris over your neighborhood catch basins, particularly those that are known to flood.

Synopsis
A warm front will move into the area this morning with the potential for a scattered shower or thunderstorm today; severe weather is not expected.  The front will move to our south, but warm temperatures will remain through the weekend.  A cold front to our west will move into the area on Monday, bringing heavy rain Monday night into Tuesday. Depending on the track of Tropical Storm Karen, the remnants of the storm may interact with the cold front.  Rainfall totals of 1-2 inches are expected with both scenarios.
Timing and Precipitation
Any showers and thunderstorms today will be widely scattered and are not expected to be severe.
Rain is expected to start Monday night and continue through Tuesday.  Rain may be heavy at times bringing a total of 1-2 inches of rain across the area with locally higher amounts possible.  Heavy rain is biggest threat with this system.
Winds
Winds will be light through the weekend.  Strong gusts and damaging winds are not expected with the system for Monday night into Tuesday.
Products
No products have been issued at this time.
OEM Watch Command will continue to monitor the weather and issue updates as necessary.
