PUBLIC ARTWORK CELEBRATES HEALTH IN BROOKLYN PARK
DATE: On view through September 19, 2019
LOCATION: Betsy Head Park
Thomas S. Boyland St. and Dumont Ave.
BROOKLYN
DETAILS: Art in the Parks: Active Open Space is a partnership between the NYC Parks and the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, in collaboration with the Fund for Public Health in NYC and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, to activate park space with health-inspired art installations that promote physical activity and strengthen community connections.
Over twenty vinyl banners that encourage healthy lifestyles hang around the perimeter of Betsy Head Park. “Moving and Living: BMS Art in the Park at Betsy Head” highlights designs by local artists Chessica Rose, Sandrine Saint Louis, Tarik Lewis, as well as artworks created at BMS Family Health and Wellness Centers community programs. These banners promote activities like cycling and yoga, as well as mental healthcare. The installation is organized by the BMS Family Health and Wellness Centers.
Funding for this project was made possible by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. This work does not necessarily reflect the views of the CDC or partners.
This exhibition is FREE and open to the public. For more information, please call (212) 360-8163.
