LOCATION:               Queens Greenhouse in Forest Park

Enter the park at Forest Park Drive and Woodhaven Boulevard

QUEENS

DETAILS:                   Once a year, the Queens Greenhouse opens its doors to give New Yorkers a rare glimpse inside at their bevy of greenery. Smell the roses, and enjoy a walk around one of only three NYC Parks greenhouses across the city. You will learn from expert gardeners who provide information about the diverse array of plants growing in city parks.

Nestled among towering oak trees in Forest Park, the Queens Greenhouse and Nursery has served Parks for the past hundred years. Annually, the greenhouse produces around 200,000 herbaceous plants (annuals and perennials) from seeds, plugs, liners, bare-root plants, and cuttings. The plants that are grown here are carefully transplanted by gardeners and used to beautify the parks, playgrounds, beaches, and pools across Queens and Brooklyn.

Throughout the event, visitors will have an opportunity to learn from our gardeners about different species, how to care for them, and where to go to see them throughout the borough. For a sneak peek at what to expect, you can visit the virtual tour of the greenhouse.

No reservations are needed; however Parks staff may limit the number of visitors allowed in each house at one time.
