EVENT &

PHOTO-OP:               NYC Parks is broadcasting a tour of Green-Wood Cemetery through Periscope, a social app that lets you share and watch live streaming video broadcasts from your phone. Urban Park Rangers Erinn White and Lena Lam will lead an in-depth expedition around one of the oldest and largest cemeteries in New York City, including visits to Battle Hill and the Monk Parakeet Nest.

DETAILS:                   NYC Parks' Urban Park Rangers are the City's ambassadors to the natural world. They are experts in history, horticulture, wildlife and more. Though they frequently offer tours of Green-Wood, with Periscope they will have the opportunity to share the site's hidden treasures with countless curious souls all over the world.

A magnet for history buffs and bird watchers, Green-Wood was founded in 1838 and is a Revolutionary War historic site (the Battle of Long Island was fought in 1776 across what is now its grounds), a designated site on the Civil War Discovery Trail and a registered member of the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary System. With 478 spectacular acres of hills, valleys, glacial ponds and paths, throughout which exists one of the largest outdoor collections of 19th- and 20th-century statuary and mausoleums, Green-Wood is a site to behold.

NYC Parks uses Periscope to share explorations of New York City's parks, natural areas, and recreational facilities in roaming conversations with expert tour guides. Visit http://periscope.tv/nycparks to follow NYC Parks and participate in live broadcasts or watch archived videos at katch.me/nycparks.
