DETAILS:                   Living Landmarks celebrates the nine individually landmarked New York City public parks in honor of the 50th anniversary of the City's landmarks law. The exhibit showcases the parks' innovative landscape designs and dynamism of the city through historical and contemporary photography, renderings, maps, artifacts, and memorabilia. The nine scenic landmarks include Bryant Park, Central Park, Fort Tryon Park, Morningside Park, Prospect Park, Riverside Park, Verdi Square, as well as Eastern and Ocean Parkways.

Notable objects in the show include a never before exhibited early pre-Olmsted and Vaux plan for Central Park, dating to 1856, and sculptor Isamu Noguchi and architect Louis Kahn's bronze model of an unrealized playground for Riverside Park.

This exhibition is FREE and open to the public. For more information, please call (212) 360-8163.
