| | saapya, winter 2014 opening the door, browning yoga it's only been 6 months since saapya made headlines at the brecht forum in nyc, with a panel of five south asian american yoga teachers, an event co-hosted by third root education exchange. we are continuing the buzz, here's a sense of how: - the saapya selfie project: a photography and oral history effort to intervene in the relative white out in yoga imagery, and to document south asian yoga heads)
- saapya organizing south asian youth: saapya is happy to be on the organizing committee for DC/NYC Desi Summer, a political education camp for south asian youth)
- the yoga domain project: arts installations online that treat the website as a canvas, a medium through which saapya can be a stronger channel for more brown content on yoga. saapya is working on sites like: pocyoga.com, yogamicroaggressions.com, and yogaessays.com
- grants and conference proposals: saapya is working to show up, from the bay to pittsburgh, to nyc
- fundraising within community: saapya is asking you, our community, to chip in to our indiegogo crowd funding effort. only a couple days left to donate, and every bit of your support counts! click here, or on the colorlines press shot, to pledge your support:
