[Toy] Sideshow Star Wars Boba Fett White Prototype Armor Figure Revealed!

Toy has posted a new item, 'Sideshow Star Wars Boba Fett White Prototype Armor
Figure Revealed!'

Theres been a lot of lot of griping from Sideshow Collectibles Star Wars
collectibles this year. The basis for their complaints? The fact that Sideshow
has seemingly given up on giving us new and unique characters in the Sideshow
Star Wars 1/6 scale figure line, and is instead now content to just give us an
endless parade of clones, repaints, clones, new versions of old characters and
more clones. Today, Sideshow Collectibles revealed their next Star Wars sixth
-scale figureand, well its not a new character, but it sure is cool! Its the
Sideshow Collectibles White Boba Fett Prototype Armor figure!

When Boba Fett first debuted to the world, it was in an old black and white
video interview with the legendary Ben Burtt. This, along with the Ralph
McQuarrie concept artwork, has led to white Boba Fett being somewhat of a cult
favorite version of the character. Weve had numerous McQuarrie Boba Fett and
white Boba Fett Prototype armor figures and sculptures over the years, including
several Hasbro releases and even a SDCC McQuarrie Boba Fett mini bust exclusive.
Clearly theres a demand for white Boba Fett merch, so why not cash in, right?
Considering how much moaning theres been by fans this year about the non-stop
rehashes in the Sideshow Star Wars 12 figures line, I imagine that this Boba
Fett in white armor figure is going to garner a little bit of hatred. And
indeed, from the teaser photo, it looks like the figure will be a complete
repaint of the earlier Sideshow Boba Fett 1/6 scale figure.
That said, Im going to be optimistic about this new Sideshow Collectibles Boba
Fett. Weve literally only seen the tip of the iceberg as far as the sixth-scale
Boba Fett Prototype Armor figure goesa single, solitary teaser photo. We could
see an extra McQuarrie Boba Fett helmet head included, some prototype specific
weapons or features Boba Fett didnt have in the movie, or even a Staf Wars beach
towel cape (disclaimer: not terribly likely)! If nothing else, well get a cool
white Boba Fett never done in this scale before, which is enough to win my
moderate approval.
Sideshow Collectibles has not yet released any concrete information pertaining
to the 12 Boba Fett White Prototype Armor figures release date or price. You can
check out the original reveal article of the Boba Fett Prototype Armor
sixth-scale figure on the official Sideshow Collectibles website

Gideon Productions presents Mac Rogers' Ligature Marks @ The Brick's Game Play Festival 7/17-27

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Contact: Emily Owens PR | emily@emilyowenspr.com | 917.408.3677

THE BRICK THEATER, INC.
IN ASSOCIATION WITH
GIDEON PRODUCTIONS
PRESENTS
LIGATURE MARKS

WORLD PREMIERE AS PART OF THE GAME PLAY FESTIVAL!
WRITTEN BY MAC ROGERS
DIRECTED BY JORDANA WILLIAMS

JULY 17 - 27 @ THE BRICK

Gideon Productions (NYIT Outstanding Premiere Production of a Play Award for Advance Man) will present the World Premiere of playwright Mac Rogers' (The Honeycomb Trilogy; Frankenstein Upstairs) dark comedy LIGATURE MARKS, July 17-27 at The Brick (579 Metropolitan Avenue between Union and Lorimer, Brooklyn) as part of their Game Play Festival. The production will be directed by Jordana Williams (The Honeycomb Trilogy; Frankenstein Upstairs) and will feature Rebecca Comtois (Viral; Crystal Skillman's Geek! with Vampire Cowboys) and Mac Rogers (NYIT Outstanding Lead Actor Nominee for The Adventures of Nervous-Boy with Nosedive Productions).
Jill can't live without Terry. So it's up to both of them—and Terry's favorite online multi-player game, NOIR—to make sure she never has to. This noir comedy from the critically acclaimed, award-winning author of The Honeycomb Trilogy and Viral charts a twisted romance between two of life's losers as they take one last shot to be something other than who they are.
Ligature Marks will run July 17 at 8pm, July 19 at 9pm, July 21 at 2pm, July 23 at 8pm, July 25 at 8pm & July 27 at 8pm as part of the Game Play Festival at The Brick (579 Metropolitan Avenue between Union Avenue and Lorimer Street, Brooklyn). Tickets ($15) may be purchased online at  www.bricktheater.com or by calling 1-866-811-4111. The show will run 75 minutes with no intermission.

MAC ROGERS (Playwright) is an award-winning playwright based in Brooklyn, New York. His plays include SOVEREIGN (New York Times and Backstage Critic's Pick), BLAST RADIUS (New York Times Critic's Pick), ADVANCE MAN (winner of the New York Innovative Theatre Award for Best Premiere Production and Backstage Critic's Pick), ASYMMETRIC (produced by Philadelphia's acclaimed New City Stage Company), VIRAL (winner of Outstanding Play at FringeNYC 2009 and Best Off-Off Broadway Play from the New York Independent Theater Bloggers), UNIVERSAL ROBOTS (nominated for four New York Innovative Theatre awards and winner of Best Off-Off Broadway Play from the New York Independent Theater Bloggers), HAIL SATAN (Outstanding Playwriting Winner at FringeNYC 2007), and FLEET WEEK: THE MUSICAL (co-written with Sean and Jordana Williams; winner of Outstanding Musical at FringeNYC 2005). Mac's plays have earned acclaim from The New York Times, Backstage, Time Out New York, The New York Post, Flavorpill, io9.com (Gawker Media's science fiction site), Tor.com, Show Business Weekly, New York Press, BroadwayWorld.com,
NYTheatre.com, Show Showdown, and many others.

JORDANA WILLIAMS (Director) has directed numerous plays by Mac Rogers, including Sovereign, Blast Radius, Advance Man (2012 NYIT Award-Outstanding Premiere Production), Viral (2009 FringeNYC Award for Outstanding Play), Hail Satan, and three seasons with Vampire Cowboys' episodic, genre-bending Saturday Night Saloon. Other recent directing work includes Kill Shakespeare at NY Comic Con 2012 and The Particulars with The Bridge Theater Company, FringeNYC 2012. Jordana has directed a number of strange and wonderful projects for such companies as Flux Theatre Ensemble, Boomerang Theatre Company, Piper McKenzie, GroundUP Productions, kef Productions, Impetuous Theater Group, The Brick Theater, The 24-Hour Plays, and The One-Minute Play Festival. She is a founding member of Gideon Productions and a 2012 nytheatre dot com Person of the Year.

Critical acclaim for the collaborations of Mac Rogers & Jordana Williams from Gideon Productions:

"Television is where you find complicated storytelling. Film is the home of epic sci-fi trilogies. Giant aliens are expensive. Mac Rogers's "Honeycomb Trilogy," a titanic story about humanity in crisis wedged into a small theater in Queens, laid waste to these truisms, and provided giddy, cerebral fun along the way." The New York Times

"Blessed with an unflinching script, [Viral] begins as the blackest of comedies before transforming into an uncompromising look at how we choose to live." Backstage

"One of the most intelligent and complex theatrical events of the year." Flavorpill

"Both pitch-perfect science fiction about an alien occupation and a wrenching treatise on the state of humanity." io9.com

GIDEON PRODUCTIONS crafts gripping plays that explore what's strange about being human and what's human about being strange, using familiar genres and cultural touchstones as a springboard to something wholly unexpected.

The League of Independent Theater to Announce Brooklyn Political Endorsements 6/29 @ PS 261

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Contact: Emily Owens PR | emily@emilyowenspr.com | 917.408.3677

THE LEAGUE OF INDEPENDENT THEATER
PRESENTS
MEET THE CANDIDATES, BROOKLYN:
THE 2013 CITY ELECTIONS AND THE PERFORMING ARTS

SATURDAY, JUNE 29 @ PS 261

On Saturday, June 29 at 1pm The League of Independent Theater will hold a Meet The Candidates event at PS 261(314 Pacific Street) in order to endorse pro-arts candidates in the 2013 City Election Cycle.

Candidates will participate in panels to discuss the impact of the performing arts on the city, and how the individual candidates will support that segment of the economy. List of candidates and agenda will be announced shortly.

LIT's endorsement will be based on the individual candidate's willingness to enter into a substantive and serious conversation with LIT's Political Action Committee on the following performing arts platform. As a pro-performing arts elected official, I will work to:

1. Create access to low-cost and/or no-cost Community Facilities Spaces for all City non-profits that are currently available and remain unused throughout the City through the creation of a Community Facilities Space Database.
2. Create access to empty and unused City property to be re-purposed as temporary rehearsal, office and (if appropriate), performance space.
3. Include non-profit performance venues in the favorable electricity and utility rates enjoyed by religious institutions and the VFW.
4. Implement a proposal that would reduce or eliminate property tax assessments for those non-profit organizations that have an artistic mission and/or rent performance space to similar non-profit performing arts groups with artistic missions of their own. This proposal was unanimously ratified by all twelve (12) Manhattan Community Boards.
5. Secure affordable permanent low-cost housing for working artists.  In addition, work to provide access to affordable healthcare for these artists, depending on the status and reach of the Affordable Care Act at the time of negotiations.
6. Support the commission of an economic impact study for the independent theater territory.
7. Work with the Department of Cultural Affairs to expand the Cultural Institutions Group to include the independent theater sector's anchor venues.
8. Install plaques at sites of historical import and rename streets after the founders of the independent and Off-Off Broadway community.

The League of Independent Theater ("LIT") is the only 501(c) 6 advocacy organization for the independent theater and performing arts population of New York City, serving over 50,000 independent performing artists, 86% of whom vote regularly. LIT will endorse candidates in every City race, and work to form alliances with other cultural advocacy organizations in the City that will foster an all-out "Get Out The Vote" effort on behalf of those candidates selected.

[Toy] Liking my Comics: Legends Wolverine

Toy has posted a new item, 'Liking my Comics: Legends Wolverine'

After having so much enjoyment come out of the wonderful world of Archangel, I
jumped onto Amazon.com and sought out the other figures I wanted from the line.
It turns out I got a few extra as well that I didnt know I wanted Funny how that
works Long story short, I have Wolverine from the Hit Monkey series, that is
also the same series that Archangel comes from. Oh and the good news? Online he
wasnt $30. Huzzah! This is Wolverine in his X-Force duds. Or so google tells me.
I first came across this costume as a costume in the rather fun Wolverine
Origins game that I bought for my PS3 many many moons ago. It was an unlockable
skin to take the place of the Jackman you usually have to play with. I must
admit that I quite like it. I thought my favourite Wolvey costume would be his
blue and yellow duds, but nope. This would be it here.

Despite it being part of the Hit Monkey series, there arent any actual Hit
Monkey parts included. Neither did Archangel have any. Odd, especially since
Wolverine doesnt come with any accessories. Odd but clever if you think about
it. People will buy Archangel and Wolverine regardless of whether they are
getting Hit Monkey or not. People will not buy, um, random-obscure-muscle-guy as
no-one knows who he is. I dont carer for Hit Monkey, so I am not fussed either
way.The packets has some nice artwork, with Wolveys face on the top and a whole
scene on the back. Interestingly, they have the same artwork for both sides, but
his left claw is angled down on the front and up on the back. Man, I want a
giant Sentinel figure now.

Oooh, look! there is the picture of Archangel that started all this Marvel toy
bizzo off. It still has the classic font and ink dots on the name, hes plastered
in his typical Wolverine look with claws out and ready to scratch. Mine has a
slightly wonky middle claw on one of his hand that I am attempting to
correct. The back has a larger version of the artwork with that sentinel on it.

I was surprised to see that Wolverine here doesn't have the multi-lingual bio
that Archangel had. Curious.

And there he is. What a nice looking toy I immediately thought. It too smelt
like crayons. The colours are nice and work together well. Annoyingly Wolvey has
slightly wonky knees, just like Archangel did too. There is a nice blackwash
that highlights the musculature and its over the important parts. The
silver/grey is a nice slightly shiny paint and really looks very nice indeed.
The moment I pulled this guy out of his case, it felt like a solid figure and I
had a good feeling about it.

The articulation is very good. Better than I expected to be honest. Double
jointed knees and elbows, bicep and thigh swivels, wrist swivels and hinges,
hinged shoulders with a swivel in there too, a diaphragm joint and waits swivel
as well. Due to the clean head sculpt he has a great range of movement in his
neck.

I was really surprised to see that his shoulders are connected to another point
of articulation that allows him to move his shoulders forwards and back as well.
I was taken aback when I discovered this, its an extra joint that is super handy
and I was chuffed to see it! Balance is fantastic, his ankles although very
adaptable are hindered by the boot belts, which is a shame as they dont bend up
much.

Oh man, that is soooo nice.Out of the pack and I noticed that the ears on his
mask had been pushed quite close to his head. I know X-Force costume has smaller
ears than his normal one, but they still stick out a bit. Luckily they are soft
plastic and can be bent forwards. I think a bit of hair dryer action on them
will help them stay in place permanently.

I really like the sculpting on this dude. He has buckles on his forearm guards
and boots. Muscles, nice clean belt buckle and belt are also included. It almost
looks like he has steel capped boots on too! WOW! Paint details are pretty good
and I am pleased to say that

His face sculpt is lovely and stern. Check out that big jaw and slightly grumpy
face! I also dig the red eyes.

Mine seems to have a little bit of battle damage to the right side of his face.
That kind of OK with me though, adds a bit of character. The creases in his mask
are another nice touch, the frown is needed for his face. Now, lets have a look
at the real winners of this guy. His claws.

They are just beautiful. The right length to look good, with the middle one
being a tad longer, they appear to sit flush with the back of his hand, despite
being extra pieces. The plastic used is a good colour. They are magnificent.
After checking out some other peoples reviews, it has general consensus of being
the best Wolverine claws in a toy yet. I havent had any other Wolverines so I
cant say either way, but I will say I love these claws. Apparently you can take
them off as well, I havent tried yet but will later on. So you can have him
flick Cyclops the bird-claw, threaten people with the
face-frame-middle-claw-sheathed, or have him pop some brews with one. Or take
them all off for relaxing Wolvey. Brilliant. The wrist joints are incredibly
handy as well with a good range of spinning and bending motion.

So what we end up with on old Wolverine here is one damn fine action figure.
Sure, he might smell like crayons when you first get him out of the box, but
hey, who cares? This thing is incredible! Not only is it a good Legends figure,
its probably one of the better figures in this size range I have seen. Great
posing options, beautiful paints and colours and those incredible claws!

My only actual gripes about this toy is his hip joints (they are a bit
counter-intuitive), but I think that is to do with the design, as opposed to
just this figure and his size as Archangel had me thinking the same thing and I
think I know what it is. I just want to confirm it with another figure and his
height as he seems to be as tall as Archangel, where I am pretty certain in the
comic he is a bit of a short-arse. (He does scale well with some more colossal
characters I have recently acquired though) Oh and that blu tack there is meant
to straighten out my wonky claw. (It didnt work by the way). But aside from the
hip joints, which still have a great range of movement, this is a brilliant toy.
Get one, you wont be disappointed.

[Toy] The Original Shnoozles from Sun Moon Enterprises Kids Nighttime Product Review

Toy has posted a new item, 'The Original Shnoozles from Sun Moon Enterprises
Kids Nighttime Product Review'

The Original Shnoozles are the perfect day/night plush for children. Shu-Shu and
Shah-Shah are soft and cuddly Shnoozle critters who make play time and sleep
time fun for kids of all ages. Shnoozles have a patented, unique eye feature
that enables the only plush in the world to allow their eyes to be closed!
Wellit doesnt get much easier than playing with a Shnoozle! With eyes open, kids
can happily play with their favorite new little buddy. Then when it is time to
nap or sleep, or to put their Shnoozle to sleep, your children simply pull out
the Shnoozles eyelids for a sleepy-time look! Easy!
After lots of play, and lots of naps, and lots of sleeps we found no breakdown
in our Shnoozle. Obviously, if you have a child that is a bit rougher on their
stuffed animals, you may need to spot clean, otherwise no durability concerns.
The Original Shnoozles are cute with a pink design and a light brown design to
appeal to both boys and girls. With that said, our kids are a tough group to
please and this wasnt the first stuffed animal/plush they pulled off the shelf.
As far as a plush toy goes, Shnoozles have pretty good functionality. Their
eyelids tuck up or come down to illustrate awake time of sleep time. Shnoozles
dont sing or dance (not that they should!), but it is hard to award too many
stars for Functionality to a plush toy.
This was the tough one for our team. Lots of parents grow tired of stuffed
animals and plush toys piling up around the house. We tend to see that most kids
receive their plush toys as gifts and while the $25 price tag isnt unreasonable
for a gift it is a bit on the high side. Many of our parents felt that is they
were going to spend $25 on a gift, they wanted to deliver more than a plush. At
the same time, many felt that is this was around $15 they would be much more
comfortable buying for their children or their friends children.
Sure plush toys have been around forever, but we really like the all-original
spin that the Shnoozle people have come up with to illustrate awake time and
sleep time. Nice angle to help teach kids for sure!
The Original Shnoozles are easy to use, cute, and actually teach a nice lesson.
They are a bit on the expensive side, but dont misunderstand us, we tend to say
that often these days! All in all we like the Shnoozles and if you dont mind
the price tag, your children will like waking up and putting their Shnoozle to
sleep.

[Toy] Galaxy Man / Formulator Force

Toy has posted a new item, 'Galaxy Man / Formulator Force'

Review by VF5SS
In my many years of collecting robot toys I have accumulated numerous off-brand
Transformers that are not bootlegs but original designs meant to ape the popular
brand. Thanks to the efforts of the B class transformer king, Butto, I was able
to discover the Japanese origin of some robot toys that were bought in an
American drugstore years and years ago. I present to you the strangely named
Galaxy Man line which in America was released under the banner of Formulator
Force. In Japan these were produced by a company called Nakai who seem to have
done nothing else. However, the style of the Japanese packaging looks similar to
that used by the main manufacturer of off-brand robots, Wing, so maybe there is
a connection there. Being rather crude look toys, these guys aren't so much a
case of "I had that!" but a more disparaging "Oh those guys."

This trio of mighty mutating machines lack the uniform colors of the original
Galaxy Man release and instead go for something more authentic. Or as I should
say, more authentic in toy terms. All three figures stand a little under seven
inches tall and are made of slightly rickety plastic.

The imaginatively named Super Car fills out the requisite car guy role in the
team. Mine has a slightly loose knee joint so he needs to keep one arm out to
stand upright. While his overall design is slightly less polished than a typical
G1 Transformer, Super Car does have a strange connection to one of the classic
Autobot cars.

For whatever reason, all three members of the F-Force have the head of G1
Sunstreaker. While it isn't a perfect one-to-one copy, the resemblance is
uncanny. The rest of Super Car's robot mode details come from a some generic but
strangely familiar spread of a Transformer body. The overall effect is somewhat
hampered by the bare patches on either side of his "waist" that betray the
simple way the torso is formed out of the car mode. It's like the Transformer
equivalent of a tuxedo t-shirt.

From the rear, Super Car's transformation methodology is readily apparent. He's
kind of like the less accomplished cousin of intergalactic super spy
Punch/Counterpunch.

Just re-position a bunch of car parts barely disguised as limbs to convert Super
Car into an adequate automobile. When I originally got this toy his hands were
installed backwards which prevented them from flipping in all the way. Some
quick work with a screwdriver sorted that mess out.

Super Car's vehicle mode is an 80's sports car. Judging by the front and the
single windshield wiper permanently frozen in mid wipe I think this is meant to
be a crude facsimile of a Ferrari BB. Color wise, the Formulator Force version
of Super Car is the closest to his Galaxy Man forebear. In some ways it works
better because now he has black tires instead of gold ones. In this mode Super
Car can roll along reasonably well and stays together alright given his bargain
bin construction.

The next member of the team is a transforming jet named Super Jet. He is easily
the most rickety of the three figures with tiny fists that can spin loosely
around at the wrist and a torso that has no way of locking in the upright
position. The large gaps in his torso and the weird detached arms seem to echo a
more abstract Machine Robo style of design than a Transformer.

Like many transforming jets, Super Jet isn't really sure what to do with all of
his wings and tailfins so he sweeps them back in an effort look more humanoid
from the front. The tailfins pull double duty as heel struts.

Thanks to a few basic joints, Super Jet can battle the forces of evil with a
jaunty stroll.

Super Jet also has his own version of the bizarre Sunstreaker head, which is
missing the characteristic "ears" making this toy just a little more creepy. And
for whatever reason the head can move...

From side...

To side....
It's just so weird!

Transforming Super Jet into an airplane is a pretty simple affair. However, he
is designed smartly enough to allow for an alternate transformation on the way
to jet mode.

Super Jet transformers into what I looks like a MiG-29, which is a jet that I
think is quite super. The gray, blue, and yellow colors work fairly well
together as it gives Super Jet a crude stunt plane look.

One of Super Jet's peculiarities in this mode is a nose wheel that far too tall
for the plane mode to sit level on the ground.

Despite the figure's bargain bin design, the jet mode is still fairly sleek.
While the drop tanks make terrible arms, they do make good underwing stores and
do a lot of give the jet mode some legitimacy.

You could easily see this guy giving Leader-1 a run for his money.

The last member of the Formulator Force is a beefy tank dude named Super Tank.
Unlike the other two, Super Tank is quite a handsome bruiser who proudly
advertises his vehicle mode with tread-bearing limbs and a big double-barreled
turret above his head.

Super Tank looks quite excellent all around with tons of detail on both his
front and back. I especially like the false rotation point in the middle of
Super Tank's back that looks like it connects to the main turret but instead
just rests underneath.

Again Super Tank has the odd Sunstreaker face that is embossed on a flat panel
that flips down for tank mode. His chest has some nice tank-y detailing and if
you look close you can see the remnants of the "made in China" sticker that was
affixed over his bellybutton.

With some satisfying clicks and clacks, Super Tank compresses down into a
powerful panzer.

While this tank mode is pure fantasy, the spread of mechanical detailing all
over it gives it the look of a functional future tank. The turret moves, the
guns elevate, and the whole thing can sorta roll on four plastic wheels so it
passes the toy tank test with flying colors.

Speaking of colors, the odd gray, purple, and turquoise combo manages to work
well with this big block of tank. Again a lot of this is helped by all the
surface details like the vents in the rear of the tank that denote the presence
of an engine. There's even an egress hatch on the turret.

The way the turret "floats" above the main body is a rather science fiction
inspired touch. If you look on the front you can see the rear of the head panel
and how it almost looks like it was vacuum formed to create the face. Like a
Sunstreaker death mask.

And so we have another set of drugstore transformers that actually have roots as
Japanese robot toys. I personally have only encountered these figures under the
Formulator Force banner but from what I have seen online they were released in a
variety of colors in other toy lines besides Galaxy Man. These are definitely a
fun curiosity for collectors of strange robot toys.
