NYC PARKS CELEBRATES BLACK HISTORY MONTH WITH FREE EVENTS THROUGHOUT THE CITY

DETAILS: NYC Parks is celebrating black history and culture with free events that highlight the black experience in the United States. Visit parks across the five boroughs for talks, tours, and more throughout the month of February.

Join NYC Parks' Ebony Society and Art & Antiquities for a book talk with Eric K. Washington, author of Boss of the Grips | The Life of James H. Williams and the Red Caps of Grand Central Terminal. This event is held in conjunction with the exhibition “Namesakes: Honoring African Americans in NYC Parks.”
BROOKLYN: Movies Under the Stars: Harriet

Join NYC Parks and New York City Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment at this free family film. View the beautiful natural vistas of the Bronx while experiencing the nature poetry of some of the greatest African-American poets, such as Maya Angelou and Langston Hughes. For younger children, we will have an arts and crafts program based on bringing African folk tales to life.
