Apply for NYC Parks' Free Fitness Instructor Training Program
DETAILS: This spring, NYC Parks will offer a comprehensive 10-week fitness instructor training program designed to train individuals to become fitness instructors for Shape Up NYC. pics will include: basic anatomy, exercise physiology, injury prevention, music, cueing and body toning with light weights. After 10 weeks, participants will get practical experience by leading a one hour Shape Up NYC class per week as part of a six month internship. Upon completion of the training and internship, participants will receive an NYC Parks Certificate of Completion, and will be equipped to pass a nationally accredited certification exam.

Qualifications: Demonstrated interest in fitness, including current participation in group exercise classes. Prior exercise instruction experience is preferred, but not required. Must also have a NYC Parks recreation center membership.
Cost: $60 for fingerprinting and background check.

DETAILS: Join us for a free day of activities to showcase sports and activities and encourage girls to lead healthy active lifestyles. Clinics and demonstrations will be offered in track and field, basketball, martial arts, soccer, ice hockey, football, softball, gymnastics, double dutch, soccer, volleyball and other activities. Events vary by location, and include guest speakers, and giveaways.
This event is focused towards young girls ages 6-17. Participants are welcome for one or all events and can choose which activities to participate in.

REGISTER FOR NYC PARKS EXPERIENCE SUMMER DAY CAMP
DETAILS: The NYC Parks Experience Summer Day Camp is one of New York City's most affordable camp programs. We provide 7 weeks of fun-filled days for children ages 6-13, at locations across the city. Campers will go on trips throughout the five boroughs, participate in sports, fitness and outdoor adventure activities, and much more. Campers are supervised by experienced CPR and AED certified staff.
CAMP SESSIONS: Monday, July 7 – Friday, August 22, 2014
Regular Day camps - weekdays 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Extended Day – weekdays 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. (Extended Day not offered at Red Hook, Staten Island or Queens).
COST: $500 for Regular day; $575 for Extended Day
HOW TO
REGISTER: Registration is open Friday, March 7 - Sunday, March 16, 2014.
Beginning Friday, March 7, registration can be done online: nyc.gov/parks/summercamp. After registration, campers are chosen by lottery. Applicants will be notified of the lottery results by e-mail after the registration period closes.

The Summer Day Camps are based in our Windsor Terrace location at 1224 Prospect Avenue (corner Vanderbilt Street). We also utilize indoor and outdoor facilities at Ft. Hamilton Army Base (approximately 15 min away), Prospect Park and Kings Bay YM-YWHA (approximately 15 min away.
The beautiful outdoor facility on country-like campus of historic Ft. Hamilton Army Base in Bay Ridge several times a week, featuring baseball and soccer fields, outdoor pool, private bowling alley, movie theater, basketball courts, arcade and café on site!

The Kings Bay Y at North Williamsburg has launched its pre-school at 14 Hope Street (between Roebling and Havemeyer Streets) for children aged 2 - 5, combining the Reggio Emilia educational and progressive approach with a rich curriculum and an emphasis on Jewish culture and values presented in an open and pluralistic way.
Weekend family activities, programs for kids aged 0 - 2, enrichment programs for children 6 - 8 years old, dual language programs in Hebrew, Russian, Mandarin and summer camp programs are also planned.
