We're also updating our terms, data policy and cookies policy to reflect new features we've been working on and to make them easy to understand. And we're continuing to improve ads based on the apps and sites you use off Facebook and expanding your control over the ads you see.   We hope these updates improve your experience. For example, you can learn about untagging, unfriending, blocking, and how to choose an audience for each of your posts. This information is available in 36 languages.   Along with our privacy checkup, reminder for people posting publicly and simplified audience selectors, Privacy Basics is the latest step we've taken to help you make sure you're sharing with the people you want.   Helping you get more out of Facebook Every day, people use our apps and services to connect with the people, places and things they care about. The updates to our policies reflect the new products we've been working on to improve your Facebook experience. They also explain how our services work in a way that's easier to understand. Here are some highlights:   Discover what's going on around you: We're updating our policies to explain how we get location information depending on the features you decide to use. Millions of people check into their favorite places and use optional features like Nearby Friends (currently only available in some regions). We're working on ways to show you the most relevant information based on where you are and what your friends are up to. For example, in the future, if you decide to share where you are, you might see menus from restaurants nearby or updates from friends in the area.   Make purchases more convenient: In some regions, we're testing a Buy button that helps people discover and purchase products without leaving Facebook. We're also working on new ways to make transactions even more convenient.   Find information about privacy on Facebook at the moment you need it: To make them more accessible, we moved tips and suggestions to Privacy Basics. Our data policy is shorter and clearer, making it easier to read.   Understand how we use the information we receive: For example, we use device information to optimize your mobile experience, like understanding battery and signal strength to help us make sure our apps work well for you. We ask for permission to use your phone's location when we offer optional features like check-ins or adding your location to posts.   Get to know how the family of Facebook companies and apps work together: Over the past few years, Facebook has grown and we want to make sure you know about our family of companies, apps and services. We use the information we collect to improve your experience. For example, if you're locked out of your Instagram account, you can use your Facebook information to recover your password. Nothing in our updates changes the commitments that Instagram, WhatsApp and other companies have made to protect your information and your privacy.   Your information and advertising: People sometimes ask how their information is shared with advertisers. Nothing is changing with these updates—we help advertisers reach people with relevant ads without telling them who you are. Learn more about ads and how you can control the ads you see.     Giving you more control over ads We've heard from some of you that it can be difficult to control the types of ads you see if you use multiple devices and browsers. In the past, if you opted out of certain kinds of advertising on your laptop, that choice may not have been applied for ads on your phone. We know that many people use more than one phone, tablet or browser to access Facebook, so it should be easy for you to make a single choice that applies across all of your devices.   That's why Facebook respects the choices you make about the ads you see, across every device. You can opt out of seeing ads on Facebook based on the apps and sites you use through the Digital Advertising Alliance. You can also opt out using controls on iOS and Android. Brooklyn,  NY: Roulette is thrilled to premiere four brand new quintets by Henry Threadgill in a premiere performance December 4 and December 5, 8pm. Each evening will present a different program, both evenings featuring Zooid members plus a selection of soloists. Each evening there will also be a featured short preceding the quintet program.

Threadgill, hailed by Nate Chinen of The New York Times as "one of the most thrillingly elusive composers in and around the jazz idiom:" is one of the great musical masterminds of the past quarter century - a composer, arranger, and innovator who transcends genres in contemporary music.

ZOOID is based on a  musical language developed by Threadgill. Compositions are organized in blocks and assigned to each musician who in turn can use them independently, throwing in elements of improvisation and utilizing counterpoint. The term Zooid describes an independent organism that works together like a colony, Threadgill has often used this comparison for his music explaining that the music is a group of independent voices coming together to create a whole sound. Threadgill has recorded or performed with many of the legends of the jazz avant-garde, including Anthony Braxton, Muhal Richard Abrams, Roscoe Mitchell, Joseph Jarman, David Murray and Bill Laswell.

Performances will be 1/12-1/17, 1/20-1/24, 1/27-1/30 & 2/3-2/7 at 7:30pm, 1/17, 1/24, 1/25, 2/1 & 2/7 at 2:30pm, 1/31 at 8pm and 2/6 at 3pm. "For those of you just tuning in, Thanksgiving is already in progress here at Wembly kitchen.  The stands are nice and full, it's quite a crowd that's gathered. They're in for a real treat." And so, in this witty exploration of how family is played, over time and memory and through generations… a pair of sports announcers calls a holiday dinner.

A Beautiful Day in November on the Banks of the Greatest of the Great Lakes was developed in The New Georges Jam, a "performance gym" for early-career playwrights and directors. The play originally premiered in May 2014 as part of the New Georges Jam On Toast play festival at Dixon Place. Great Lakes is Kate Benson's first produced play.

The direction of Ms. Evans unfurls it on the Dixon Place stage with wit and verve, conjuring the story — the preparation and serving of a gigantic family dinner — without so much as a salad plate in sight."  Neil Genzlinger, The New York Times

KATE BENSON (Playwright) is a writer and actor living in Brooklyn. Her plays include A Beautiful Day in November on the Banks of the Greatest of the Great Lakes, produced by New Georges in 2014, [PORTO], Lee Miller, and Radium Now. She is a member of The New Georges Jam and the 2014-15 Soho Rep Writer/Director Lab, and she is a graduate of the Brooklyn College MFA Playwriting program. She is the recipient of the Clubbed Thumb Biennial Commission. She has had readings and showings of her work at Dixon Place, 13^th St. Theater, Jimmy's No. 43, and The Room at New Georges. As an actor, she has appeared at The Public, NYTW, The Flea, PS 122, the Incubator, and LaMama.

LEE SUNDAY EVANS (Director) is a director and choreographer. As the resident director for CollaborationTown, she has directed The Play About My Dad, The Deepest Play Ever, The Momentum, and Family Play (1979 to Present). Other recent productions include: So Go the Ghosts of Mexico, Part ll by Matthew Paul Olmos (Sundance Theatre Lab), God's Ear by Jenny Schwartz (Juilliard), All Girls by Anna Greenfield (Horse Trade), The Caucasian Chalk Circle, Cyrano de Bergerac (Waterwell/PPAS). Her work has been presented and developed at: 59E59, Sundance Theater Lab, The New Ohio, Brooklyn Arts Exchange, Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, The Culture Project, Robert Wilson's Watermill Center, Dixon Place, LaMama, Emerging America Festival/Huntington Theater, Williamstown Theater Festival, Coatesville VA Medical Center. With CTown, she is currently developing a new musical for New Victory's LabWorks commissioning program. Time Warner Fellow of 2014-2016 Lab at Women's Project Theater, Lincoln Center Director's Lab, New Georges Affiliated Artist. BFA: Boston University.

NEW GEORGES, founded in 1992, is a strategically small company with a national reputation for taking a first look at new and experimental plays and artists, and as a home and a playground for some of the most adventurous theater artists (who are women) working today. WOMEN'S PROJECT THEATER is the nation's oldest and largest theater company dedicated to developing, producing and promoting the work of female theater artists at every stage in their careers. WP supports women theater artists and the world-class, groundbreaking work they create, and provides a platform where women's voices can be heard and celebrated on the American stage. At a time when gender parity is still a distant goal, the unique mission of WP is more essential than ever. 

 

In service of that important mission, over the past 37 years WP has produced over 600 main stage productions and developmental projects, and published 11 anthologies of plays by women. WP has been the launching pad for many of our nation's most important female theater artists. Eve Ensler, María Irene Fornés, Katori Hall, Pam MacKinnon, Lynn Nottage, Leigh Silverman and Anna Deveare Smith, among many, many others, all found early artistic homes here. No other producing institution in the country can claim this kind of ongoing history of advocacy and support for women in the theater, and we look ahead to the next generation of female artists who will also begin their careers here.

Brooklyn, NY: Roulette presents John Zorn's Cobra, Saturday, November 29th, 8pm. Cobra, a unique composition created by Zorn, is a piece created for multiple improvisors which consists of a system of cues and corresponding rules.  Devoid of traditional musical notation, Cobra creates an electrifying environment where the composition can be radically different with each live performance.

Roulette is celebrating the 30th Anniversary of John Zorn's Cobra which originally premiered at Roulette in 1984. One of the most often performed compositions in new music, the phenomenon of John Zorn's Cobra lives on into the 21st Century with continuous monthly performances in Japan, Europe, Australia and the United States. Under the direction of the composer himself this newest performance gives Zorn's infamous game piece a startling new reading by some of downtown New York's leading improvisers. Cobra is never really Cobra without Zorn himself at the helm—and here the music takes some surprising turns that even he never expected. A 21st Century update of a 20th Century classic.. Zorn has said of Cobra  "deliberately chosen not to publish (or even write down) the rules".
