The Tournament is a two-day competition.  On Saturday, August 8, players face off in the preliminaries. BROOKLYN PARKS CELEBRATED IN LIVING LANDMARKS ExhibitION AT CENTRAL PARK's ARSENAL GALLERY

DATE:                        June 25 – August 28, 2015

TIME:                          Monday – Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Closed Holidays

LOCATION:               The Arsenal Gallery, Central Park

                                    830 Fifth Avenue

At 64th Street and 5th Avenue

MANHATTAN

DETAILS:                   Living Landmarks celebrates the nine individually landmarked New York City public parks in honor of the 50th anniversary of the City's landmarks law. The exhibit showcases their contributions to landscape design and to the dynamism of the city through historical and contemporary photography, renderings, maps, artifacts, and memorabilia. Brooklyn is represented by more than 25 vintage and contemporary images of Prospect Park, as well as Eastern and Ocean Parkway, the first parkways in the nation.  Objects in the show include an 1868 progress plan of Prospect Park, as well as stereopticon views of the park producing a three dimensional visual effect.  A rendering of the Caton Avenue bridge crossing at Ocean Parkway reminds us that this historic landscape might have been lost had it not been for Brooklyn's preservation advocates, while an photo of the exuberant West Indian American Day Parade along Eastern Parkway reveals a purpose that designers Olmsted and Vaux never imagined.

This exhibition is FREE and open to the public. For more information, please call (212) 360-8163 or visit: INSERT WEB LINK
